Star Wars - What Critics Didn't Like

An awe-inspiring film-saga such as Star Wars is seldom expected not to draw some negative attention, which mainly detests certain key aspects of such a style of filmmaking. Be it the literati communists, Hollywood critics, people from the French New Wave, or any one else, criticism against the Star Wars, its director George Lucas, and the fantasy that Star Wars has opened to the world, seldom stop. Set millions of light years away in a special Galactic Empire, the Star Wars series is a tremendous source of inspiration for many, but quite the opposite for those who believe in 'realism' in films.

One of the main concerns with the critics is the 6-5-4, 1-2-3 system that the Star Wars has been built on. The idea of the Galactic epic has been the brainchild of George Lucas as he intelligently continued to sew the threads of links over many decades of political situations in real life. Lucas perhaps did not want a narrowing down of the story line into a reflection of political situations walled off by its times. The idea may have been much broader in the sense of allowing alternatives to surface as the missing links were about to be released after '1' came out in 1999.

Critics have been sharp enough to joke about Lucas's dexterity pertaining to numbering, and other day-to-day things in life. Critics have also raised the issue of the Force being responsible for Anakin's birth which is symbolic to the generally challenged idea of Jesus being born in a similar fashion, without the involvement of a human father. Since staunch Catholic beliefs state that Holy Mary was a virgin, Shmi Skywalker's role in the birth of Anakin (the protagonist) is highly contested for its lack of originality and being overtly fantasy-oriented. However, fans debate that fantasy is the whole idea, especially when you are portraying a human like world, 'far, far away' from its original manifestation.

Lucas is also known for having cited that filmmaking can be extremely boring especially when it comes to watching your own film about a hundred times. Many critics have used this against him, saying that he would begin to go 'insane' once the movie opened at the premiers. Lucas however, has been a key influential figure in the filed of filmmaking proving his masterful touch through direction, script writing and co-producing his own movies.

Special effects have often been an area of attention when it came to Lucas's films and is viewed best on LED HDTVs. Critics have often expressed their dissatisfaction in the absence of warmth and heart. However, Lucas is also known for a certain element of simplistic story telling when it came to animations. The focus of the director was on the intention of making every element of the animations look like 'star wars' which are about blazing energy, as opposed to drying tears or smiling infants. Critics have also been malicious enough to joke about the birth of Anakin an outcome of the director visiting the mother in 'cosmic' dark, for the movie to get to the screens.
